Hillary is an admitted attorney specialising in Insolvency Law. She is a member of the Cape Law Society, the Institute of Directors in South Africa as well as the South African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association (SARIPA). She serves as treasurer on the Western Cape Provincial Council of SARIPA.
She joined Independent Advisory on 1 August 2004. Prior to joining Independent, she practised as an Insolvency Practitioner and operated her own business. Hillary graduated from the University of the Western Cape with an LLB degree and obtained the post graduate diploma in Insolvency Law and Practise in 1999.
She joined the Department of Justice as a public prosecutor in 1990 and gained extensive experience in criminal law and civil litigation in the lower courts. In 1992 she joined the Master of the High Court and was promoted to an Assistant Master of the High Court in 1996. In 1998, she joined Sizwe Ntsaluba Chartered Accountants as head of their Insolvency and Recoveries Division. She was appointed in high profile matters as curator bonis by the Asset Forfeiture Unit under the Proceeds of Organized Crime Act.
Her extensive experience in the legal field includes the administration of insolvent estates, deceased estates, trusts, curatorships, corporate recoveries, forensic investigations, due diligence, insolvencies, business restructuring and related fields.
